Representatives from civil society organisations

Topics for discussion

This session was used to discuss the idea analysis to date and methodology.

 Notes

  • The distinction between participation, democracy and public service is blurry and should be worked through again
  • How can we think about this in terms of a framework of openness practice (foundation, reach, quality, impact) – can we review the ideas against this
  • Category names need to be simple and clear, should review – this also addresses the crossover of the categories described above
  • Officials need to be ready to talk about how initiatives align with current workplan and strategy at the next meeting
  • Use this thinking to present the data differently, for example a scattergram that captures multiple dimensions
  • Need to check through ‘other’ category to make sure they have been properly classified.  For example, environmental/climate change ideas, including acceding to the Aarhus Convention
  • Te Kawa Mataaho to re-cut the ideas and look at a way to visually represent it for next meeting of wider group
